Nonprofit – forprofit alliances is relatively new and growing field in Norway; and it lacks strategies and deep understanding of reasons and consequences of such collaboration. The study examines motives, perceptions and drivers of partner choice in nonprofit – forprofit collaboration in Norway through the set of interviews with cooperation responsible representatives from both, nonprofit and business, sides. 29 interviews have covered three main topics: how parties find and choose each other; purposes, motivations and perceptions of such alliances; and specifics of Norwegian approach to them. Data was collected in August – September 2009. The results of study describe forms of nonprofit – forprofit collaboration in Norway, shed lights on difficulties and preferences in partner choice, discovers relevant signals of nonprofit quality for business and of forprofits’ motivations for nonprofits and business society.
