Native Hawaiian students were surveyed from grades 9-12 about the violence that happens to themselves and other students in their high school environment . Students were then surveyed about who they would report to about the violence (i.e reporting behavior) such as a friend, grandparent, counselor, parent, or school principal. Lastly this book explores the cultural backgrounds and identity of the students and questions whether that has any effect on reporting violent incidences to school officials.
