This has been due to the synergistic efforts of governmental and non governmental bodies academicians and affected communities. Still much remains to be done. Both to sustain this progress and to further reduce the impact of leprosy on patients and their families. Important issues to be taken care of are socio cultural factors , accessibility of health services and effective referral system.
