This is a qualitative phenomenological study provides new insights regarding the care of patients during the period of connection to the mechanical ventilator during the recovery period after open heart surgery. From the clinical experience of the author, it has been observed that, being connected to the mechanical ventilator during the recovery period after open heart surgeries was expressed as the most stressful and harsh experience to those patients despite of being connected to other multiple invasive devices. Therefore this qualitative phenomenological study aimed to explore the lived experience of mechanically ventilated patients during the recovery period after open heart surgery. And to formulate recommendation guidelines to improve nursing management of mechanically ventilated patient during such period.
